La Fornaia launches premium bread range for foodservice

La Fornaia, Company of the Year 2005*, and leading speciality bread supplier, has launched a new range of bread for the foodservice sector, giving customers who want something special a chance to experience the great taste of La Fornaia bread outside the home.

"La Fornaia led the way in bringing high quality Mediterranean-style bread to Britain's dining tables and picnic baskets through retail channels," says Sales and Commercial Director, Ken Glennon. "We have seen growth of 26% year on year for the past five years and now we have a sure-fire winner for foodservice businesses who want something better for their customers."

The new range includes Ciabatta in original, olive or sun-dried tomato versions, Panini in original, grigliati (grilled) and cheese and Focaccia in sun-dried tomato, cheese and roast onion and mixed herb versions. The bread is supplied frozen to give the greatest ease of use for foodservice operators.

"We use the same top quality ingredients and traditional methods of preparation for our new foodservice range as for the rest of our bread" says Ken Glennon. "The flour we use comes from Canadian wheat, universally recognised as the best in the world for the speciality bread we make. Our extra virgin olive oil, which comes from Andalusia in Spain, is a particularly peppery blend selected specially to give the best flavour after baking."

"We use only the best olives, including Kalamata olives from Greece and delicious and juicy green olives specially sourced for La Fornaia from the hills of Andulucia," he says. "Our sun-dried tomatoes are grown in the Aegean region of Turkey and laid out under the blue skies of the Mediterranean and left for several days to develop a rich, exotic flavour."

"People love the taste of our bread," says Ken Glennon. "This new range means the foodservice sector can experience the 'quality' hand-crafted products that the national retailers' customers enjoy. It's great news for foodservice operators and it's great news for their customers."
